Introduction to today's and tomorrow's new ways of digital communication in computer networks, especially in Internet. The topics of the lectures include information society, teledemocracy, information networks (structures, functions, contents etc.), info rmation services, networks as communication media and phenomena connected to networks. The topics of the demonstrations include integrated information systems (WWW, Gopher), HyperText Markup Language, file transfers, telnet, etc.

Requirements
There will be no exam arranged. Instead, the students are expected to search for information and produce an expansive WWW presentation of the chosen topic. The presentation should include a self-written introduction, images, external links found with diff
erent search engines and comments about the links. The logically categorized content and impressive lay-out are emphasized.
An 80% attendance is expected. More absences will result in extra
assignments.
