EXAMS
![]()
Exams are also held outside the teaching periods, for example, before the winter (Christmas) break and before the beginning of the spring term, as well as at the end of the spring term, after teaching has finished. It is possible that exams are also held during the summer break. An exam is usually held after each course has finished. Some courses may be passed by taking mid-course exams instead, or the exam may be included in the class hours and may replace the actual Period Exam. When there are mid-course exams, no resits are possible. Some courses can be passed solely by attending enough lessons and lectures. Apart from an exam, course requirements may include, for example, a written assignment. The degree programmes also include courses that are based only on set literature, which the student must study independently. Course requirements are given in the description of each course.
The first exam, the so-called Period Exam, is generally held 1‚3 weeks after a course has finished. During the year, a further two opportunities are provided to sit each exam ‚ so-called resit exams. The University tries to schedule resits so that students have the opportunity to resit an exam at least once each term.
Students must register for an exam at least 7 days in advance. Students register for exams by entering their names on a registration list. Any student wishing to cancel his registration must enter his name and the name of the course on a cancellation list. Late registrations will not be accepted, unless the circumstances are exceptional, in which case there is a limited possibility of late registration, with only a few extra places each exam day (= one registration list per exam day).
Exams are held on Mondays, starting at 8 am and on Fridays, starting at noon sharp.
