PROGRESS IN ONE¥S STUDIES

Whilst the University to a limited extent supervises the academic progress made by the students, it is the students themselves who are responsible for the advancement of their studies. It is not compulsory to attend lectures, but it should be emphasized that attending lectures is still the best method of acquiring new concepts and preparing for exams. Courses which contain a large element of classroom work often require the students to attend regularly (normally 75% minimum). Examples of compulsory-attendance courses are language oral skills classes or listening comprehension exercises. The curriculum indicates whether it is compulsory to attend a course or not. In all courses there is a considerable amount of independent work. The amount increases as the studies progress and the advanced studies mainly consist of independent, research-type work.
