The University of Vaasa occupies Finland¼s newest campus area close to the sea. The main university buildingTervahovi¼ and the administrative building Luotsi¼ were completed in the autumn of 1994. In the campus area there is also the former office building of the Vaasa Cotton Mill, which has been skilfully renovated to provide accommodation for various academic dements. The new High Tech laboratory is being built on the premises of theformer mill. There are also apartments for visiting guest lecturers as well as students¼ lodgings in traditional Finnish wooden houses. The plan is for the University Library and the Humanities Faculty, which are still located in the centre of the city, to be removed to the campus area before the end of the decade.The campus is situated in Palosaari, a suburb about 20 minutes¼ walk from the centre of Vaasa.
The University offers a modern study environment with up-to-date computer and other technical facilities. From thestudent restaurant in the main building there is a magnificent view of thesurrounding natural scenery and the sea. In all buildings arrangements havebeen made to facitate the movement of motion-handicapped staff and students.
