There are several numbers for calling from Finland abroad e.g. "990", "994", "999" and probably "00" coming in October into use. First you choose one of these numbers then a country code for the country you want to call ( if there is a "0" at the beginning omit it ) then a city code and the number. In the table below you can find call prices to Germany and Poland for the numbers "990" or "999".
COMMENT: The finnish Telecom (TELE) public telephones are much less expensive than Avant telephones (pink/rosa ones). Use card and not coins.
(BTW: one and only TELE coins telephone is in the Post (Posti) main bulding).

*ppm means a local charge for telephone operations and it is in Vaasa about 0,40 fmk for the first call´s minute and about 0,07 fmk for the following minutes.
