Bevor I came to Finland this country was for me like a one big mystery. Of course you know the most important information like about each country, but this is not enough. I will say Finland surprised me positiv with a lot of regards from day to day.

I stayed in Vaasa four months. After this time you can write a lot about the city, people, finnish customs, finnish alkohol´s manner, kind of life and I don´t know whatever! But those all information you will find on the pages in our project. That´s because I don´t want to repeat this!!

On this page I would like to write about finnish food. I give you some finnish recipes!!! That´s only my personal experience which I made with my friends here.

"Finnish Cuisine" is full of surprises and I think is worth to try it!!! In my opinion in the first moment the "Finnish Kitchen" seems to be heavy and rather inexquisite, but there is a lot of east and west influences. A lot of dishes reminds dishes from another parts of Scandinavia - like temptly subtle dressed fishes and seefruits (herring, salmon etc.) or exotic reindeer´s and elk´s meat. In anothers you can find influence from Russia - solidly cakes and fricasseés, very good dishes from cabbage, pork and mutton.

But I should say with some finnish dishes you should be very careful (!!!) - for example MÄMMI. The Finns eat this "thing" in the Eastern - it´s traditionall food in this team. It´s a kind of pulp and tastes like a dark bread. you can eat this with milk or cream - I think than it taste a little bit better (!). Generally when you will have a possibility to eat this - be careful!!!:)))

KAALIKÄÄ RYLEET

STROGANOFF

VENÄLÄINENSILLI

I think when you will go to Finland you should try to cook in finnish way!!! Almost components are easy of approach in the shops or on the markt (some of them you can buy only in the season). So I will say TRY!!!

Here some my favourite finnish recipes:
(each recipe is for four persons)

STEWED OR BAKED MEAT OF REINDEER

50 g fat of pork or butter
300 g ground meat of reindeer
0,2 l water

Put the meat to the pot and bake it on the fat. Add water and pinch of salt (a pinch of peeper or choped onion too, if you like) and stew so long that the meat will be not more soft - about 30-45min. Served with potatoes and jam.

RASPBERRY AND BILBERRY - PUDDING

0,4 l water
0,1 l bilberry
0,1 l raspberry
1 spoon sugar
2 spoons potatoes-flour

Mix water, bilberries, sugar and flour in stew-pan, and cook slowly mix the all time until it will it willstart to boil. Taste if it is enough sweet, add raspberries and serve!!!

So I have only one to say:

HYVÄÄ RUOKAHALUA!!!
