PROJECT: LANGUAGE ACQUISITION AND TESTING

Aims of the project
  • To study and test the acquisition of Finnish both as mother tongue and as second / foreign language in different teaching situations and by means of different teaching methods
  • To promote the teaching of Finnish as mother tongue and as second / foreign language
     
Postgraduate studies

Seminars etc.:

  • The annual VAKKI seminar at Vöyri in April (jointly with the other Departments of the Faculty of Humanities)
  • Postgraduate seminar during the academic year

Work in progress includes the following doctoral and licentiate theses:

  • Marjatta Elomaa: Kielikylpylasten äidinkieliset kirjoitelmat (doctoral thesis).
  • Anita Åstrand: Vieraskielinen opetus ja sanaston kehitys. Ruotsinkieliset suomenkielisessä opetuksessa. (doctoral thesis).
  • Citha Grandell: Kielikylpylasten äidinkielen kehitys - peruskoulun toisella luokalla olevien lasten toistokertomusten tarkastelua (licentiate thesis).
  • Paula Hauru: Maahanmuuttajien suomen kielen omaksumisesta peruskouluissa (licentiate thesis).
  • Seppo Kallio: Ruotsinkielisten lukiolaisten suomen kielen kehitys (licentiate thesis).
  • Tuula Sissala: Toinen kotimainen kieli ammattioppilaitoksissa. (licentiate thesis).
