The last call for papers

The second Nordic meeting on genetic algorithms and their applications will be held Mon. 19. - Fri. 23. August 1996 at University of Vaasa, Finland. The program of the workshop is still open. All suggestions and submissions are welcome. Here is our suggestion of what the workshop could include: {

• Preconference popular lectures etc (Sunday 18 Aug)
• a GA tutorial (Monday 19 Aug)
• a GP tutorial (Tuesday 20 Aug)
• Industry and GA workshop (Tuesday 20 Aug)
• Best GA contest (Tuesday 20 Aug)
• Invated lectures and contributed papers (Wednesday 21 Aug)
• Invated lectures and contributed papers (Thursday 22 Aug)
• Invated lectures and contributed papers (Friday 23 Aug)
• Post conference popular lectures (Saturday 24 Aug)
• Holiday Season Terminal Carnival (Sunday 25 Aug)

The presented and peer reviewed papers will be published as a proceedings and it will be available also via anonymous ftp (ftp.uwasa.fi/cs/2NWGA) in PostScript format and in html format via WWW (http://lipas.uwasa.fi/2NWGA). To make this happen, the authors are kindly asked to submit the papers in LaTeX-format including pictures (as .eps files). Instructions for authors are available from the above ftp directory (see the README file for further instructions).

Best GA contest the rules and other information of the contest can be found in the above ftp directory as file rules.txt.

Note: Finnish Artificial Intelligence Society (FAIS) has its Biannual meeting at Vaasa 21 - 23 August 1996 and an International Neural Network Symposium will be also held concurrently, which gives an opportunity to participate three interesting scientific meetings during one journey to Vaasa. In addition there will be popular lections for the great audience and computer, program, and book exhibition plus informal artificial happenings in (virtual) reality.

Participation fee:

• 500 FIM for academic participants (includes the proceedings)
• 1000 FIM for participants from industry (includes the proceedings)
• 100 FIM for students (does not include the proceedings)

Early registration deadline is Friday 17. May 1996 after that the participation fees will be 25% higher.

Timetable

The authors are kindly invited to submit their papers according to the following schedule:

Title and extended abstract due 29 Feb. 1996
Notification of Acceptance due 1 Apr. 1996
Final paper due 1 May 1996
