The short story...
Currently I work as a sytems designer in the Tritonia Academic Library.
I'm also an assoiciate of a company WasaLab Ltd.
Some other projects from the last few years include:
- During 2003 I worked in Learning Centre, which
operates as a part in our local academic library, Tritonia. My main task was to run a
web-development project focusing on user administration. Project name
was Viikinki and
it was part of a national HAKA project.
- From November 2002 to March 2003 I ran the Ericsson Vaasa
office. Our team developed and maintained a Web based document
managament and delivery system.
- Year 2001 full time with Ericsson Vaasa unit. First some
mobile internet consulting, including bluetooth applications
and SMS systems (like the SMS version of Hessu system built
for the University of Vaasa).
- 2000, Research project with Oy L M Ericsson Ab. The work centered
around the idea of dynamic content adaptation for the mobile media
(yes, you guessed it: XHTML, WML, XSLT - all that stuff...)
- Just before joining the Ericsson team I worked
once again for the University of Vaasa - mainly in the
Computer Centre.
The last major project there was the Web-interface for
our exam registration system. Our students know it as
Hessu.
-
1999, I worked for six months with the IT divison of CITEC (SGML/XML consultatioin). BTW,
since you obviously are using the Web you should check CITEC's
SGML/XML/HTML browser DocZilla.
-
1998, SGML R&D Project with ABB Transmit Relays and Network
Control. This was done together with Jari Perkiömäki and we were working
for the department of
Communication Studies at the time. Our work included the building
of an SGML content production and delivery environment for technical
documentation.
-
1997, SGML Technology transfer via pilots for SME's. Also with Jari - this
project looked at the ways in which SME's could benefit from the
SGML and Web-based technologies. One of themes was terminology management,
about which we also presented a paper at the SGML Finalnd '97 conference.
The project was funded by TEKES and (former) Wärtsilä Diesel Oy.
-
1996, Building a framework for producing and publishing course material
for the electronic library. This very interesting project was funded by
the ministry of education and collaboration with other universities
evolved into RAJU.
This project was strongly supported by the University of Vaasa library
(nowadays The Tritonia Academic Library, Vaasa)
- 1995, Connecting regional libraries to the Internet and
establishing a strong co-operation with academic and public libraries
This is still ongoing work, under the name Sukkula. Through the
years there has been a large number of talented people all over our
region, who has kept this co-operation alive.
OK, that's a short professional summary I guess. When it comes to
my personal matters... well they are my personal matters, right? But
I will share with you the fact that I do have a wife and two
kids (a boy and a girl).
For those who wish to use PGP, my PGP-public key is
available.
