1. Official Network Station support at IBM's website

IBM Support & Downloads search facility

IBM Support & Downloads
There is a lot of Network Station-related information at IBM's site that only appears to be available through the search facility. While there are a couple of index pages (see below), I have been unable to find a comprehensive list of all the Network Station publications.

Documentation

Index pages for IBM documentation

Each of the following documents lists a different assortment of Network Station-related publications. For some reason, there seems to be quite a lot of overlap.

Title IBM Reference Number
Thin Client Publications -
IBM Network Station Redbooks MIGR-47S224
NetVista Thin Client – Index to Online Publications MIGR-4N9MXK
Publications – NetVista Thin Client MIGR-53718

Note: Some of the titles quite misleadingly only mention the NetVista thin clients while the actual information may still be applicable to the older Network Station thin clients as well.

Particular IBM documents of interest

IBM Network Station Guide for Windows NT (SG24-2127-01)
This appears to be the original V1(R?) Network Station Manager planning and installation guide. I am not sure if this is completely obsoleted by the V1R3 guide (linked below) or if the V1R3 guide just augments and builds upon this guide.
IBM Network Station Manager V1R3 Guide for Windows NT (SG24-5221-00)
A complete guide to installing the V1R3 server-side tools and utilities and the IBM Network Station. Do not let the term “Windows NT” in the title to turn you off. This guide is essential in getting familiar with the V1R3 software even if you did not intend to use any of the Windows-based server-side configuration tools or daemons.
IBM Network Station Manager V2R1 (SG24-5844-00)
A complete guide to installing the V2R1 server-side tools and utilities and the IBM Network Station. The V2R1 version of the above. Also describes the differences between V1R3 and V2R1.

Downloads

Index page for IBM downloads

Software Download – NetVista Thin Client
An assortment of downloadable software packages for the Network Station and NetVista thin clients.

Essential Network Station Manager (Thin Client Manager) downloads

IBM Network Station Manager V1R3
A single-file setup package for Network Station Manager V1R3. Can be uncompressed with WinZip or WinRAR; a good starting point for any experiments with a Network Station 300. See the installation notes elsewhere on this site.
IBM Thin Client Manager V1R3 (aka Network Station Manager V1R3)
Another setup package for the same thing as above; this time splitted into several parts. Perhaps harder to extract.
IBM Thin Client Manager V2R1 Software Update for PC Servers (aka Network Station Manager V2R1)
Despite of the misleading words "software update" in the title, the page actually contains a full, stand-alone setup package for V2R1 SU13, which you need to download first, and an additional zip package for upgrading to SU14. See the installation notes elsewhere on this site.

2. Linux HOWTOs

Network Station-related

Linux Netstation HOWTO
Describes how to hook up a IBM Netstation / Netvista thin client to your local network using a Linux box as server. This document tries to describe the usage of other IBM thin client models as well—not only the Network Station 300—and may be a little bit confusing in this regard. Also, many of the URLs provided are now broken.
Linux Netstation mini-HOWTO
Presumably an earlier version of the above. Included here for completeness sake because some of the content seem different  to the above.

X-related

Remote X Apps mini-HOWTO
This mini-HOWTO describes how to run remote X applications. That is, how to have an X program display on a different computer than the one it's running on. Or conversely: how to make an X program run on a different computer than the one you're sitting at. The focus of this mini-HOWTO is on security. This mini-HOWTO also contains information on running X applications locally, but with a different user-id, and information on setting up a computer as an X terminal.
Linux X-terminal Details for Debian
Explains how to configure XDM to accept remote connections on Debian. (This might not necessarily be the most secure way to do it. May need further research.)

3. Other

Unofficial IBM Thin Clients Support Page
Lists the various models, offers some tips about obtaining and installing the Network Station Manager (Thin Client Manager), and lists the official, IBM-sanctioned PCMCIA cards and peripherals.
