Could you help me in accessing Usenet newsgroups?

I found one of your FAQs, and it has been very useful, but I wanted to subscribe to the news groups that you mentioned in the file. When I tried I was unable to locate them. If you can tell me if they have moved or if you could help me that would be great.

What Usenet newsgroups a site carries is a local admin decision. Thus this is a problem that only can be solved by your own, local newsmaster. You should contact him/her about it asking for the inclusion of the missing newsgroups to your site's newsgroups' collection.

Another, temporary solution is using a public news repository like Google for seeing the missing newsgroups with a WWW browser. The Google archive (originally the deja.com repository bought out by Google) has a very extensive collection with good coverage of also old postings. Below are a couple of examples of newsgroup access via outside services.

alt.msdos.batch.nt Windows NT batch programming
At Google: http://groups.google.com/group/alt.msdos.batch.nt
Turbo Pascal programming discussion at Borland

I am having problems with posting to a newsgroup. I have noted that you frequently give advice and help on the Usenet news. Could you please help me in getting my message posted?

Thank you for your confidence asking me. You are, however, asking the wrong quarters. Helping you with posting problems is up to your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Please contact them. If they can't/won't help you, consider getting a more customer service oriented ISP. Your query is outside my scope. There is nothing I can do about your problem.
All the best, Timo
